AFC Lostock Hall

The second round of the Lancashire FA Sunday Trophy, and no doubt about the tie of the round, a repeat of last season's final between AFC Lostock Hall and Quilligans.

It is a gloriously sunny morning for the game between the reigning champions of the Lancashire Evening Post Sunday League and the Blackpool and Fylde Sunday Alliance.

Lostock Hall ran out winners in that final by a surprisingly comfortable 4-0 margin, but they have had a mixed start to their league campaign, yet they make the brighter start here, Alex Randell curling home a superb free kick from 20 yards to give them a 16th minute lead.

Quilligans certainly have plenty of the play in the first half, and come closest to an equaliser when Anthony Pearson's header comes back off the bar.

Alex Randell adds his second goal on the hour mark, with a finish from inside the penalty area after Quilligans were unable to clear their lines, and from that point on there only looked likely to be one winner.

Will Yates makes it 3-0 after 70 minutes with a header from a great cross by Steve Greenwood, and incredibly Lostock Hall go on to go one better than the previous meeting between the two, Yates completing a quick hat-trick with goals on 85 and 89 minutes to wrap up a 5-0 victory that will certainly have made all the other contenders in this competition sit up and take notice.
